In 1939, my father left the University of Pennsylvania and joined the Marine Corps. He was 22 when on the 13th of February, he enlisted in the US Marines.
Fate took over because on that same day in Philadelphia Frank Grant Parks, my mother’s oldest brother, also enlisted.
